Minilift and Liquid Lift

A Minilift and liquid lift are two of our most popular procedures to combat the signs of aging.  A minilift can restore a more attractive neck and jawline.  A liquid lift, using  Kybella®, Voluma®, Juvederm®, and Botox®, can revive youthful fullness around the eyes and cheeks, and improve the contour of double chin.  With twenty-five years’ experience using traditional surgery to achieve these goals, I now specialize in nonsurgical and minimally invasive procedures to rejuvenate the face without major surgery.  It’s all done in the office with either no anesthesia or topical and local anesthesia.

When there’s some looseness along the jaw line and neck, A Minilift done under local anesthesia in the office can help restore a tighter jawline as in the patient shown.  Unlike a more extensive facelift, the recovery from a Minilift is much less involved.

Voluma® Liquid Eye Lift

An excellent compliment to our Minilift is a liquid lift. In a liquid lift, we use Voluma® and Juvederm® to restore youthful fullness throughout the face, as in these patients treated by Dr. Loomis.  Voluma® is used in the midface, eyes and cheeks, and Juvederm® in the lines around the mouth.

Voluma®

Voluma is a longer lasting hyaluronic acid filler from Juvederm®, lasting two years in the FDA study.  Dr. Loomis especially likes using it to correct that groove that forms in the middle of the cheek and runs up to the lower lids, as in the patients above.

There are other areas where we want less fullness, like in the submental or “double chin” area.  While we can still do syringe fat removal under local anesthesia when necessary, we now have Kybella® to remove this fat without any surgery as in the patients shown below.

Sometimes we may use a combination of therapies: Kybella® to reduce the double chin fat, a Minilift to tighten loose jowl and neck skin, Voluma® and Juvederm® to correct hollowing of the cheeks and under eye areas.

When submental neck fat is too broad to treat with Kybella®, we can still do syringe fat removal under local anesthesia in the office.

We provide a wide range of options for in-office rejuvenation, all of which avoid the risks, downtime and costs of major surgery.  See what we can do for you. Contact us now for a free consultation.

Voluma® Liquid Eye & Cheek Lifts

Voluma® Liquid Lifts are our preferred treatment to correct age-related volume loss around the eyes, midface and cheek.  Voluma® is a long-lasting filler designed for deeper injections in the face.  Rather than fill lines, it lifts and restores youthful fullness.

Voluma® Liquid Eye Lift

Voluma® addresses some aging concerns that simple tightening of the skin does not help, such as grooves and hollows.  It can provide a more natural rejuvenation to the face, avoiding some of the pulled looks we sometimes see after traditional surgical lifts.  I use it around the eyes to provide a Liquid Eye Lift.

Early in the aging process, many women begin to notice a groove in the front of the cheek that runs up towards the under eye.  This groove, together with a hollowness beneath the cheekbone, is a subtle but powerful sign of aging.  After having Voluma® injections, that sign of aging is lessened.  Many Voluma® patients will also often have Juvederm® injections around the mouth to soften their laugh lines or lift the corners of the mouth.  Juvederm® can also smooth out lip lines and early jowls. Youthful rejuvenation without an artificial, plastic look–isn’t that our ideal goal?

What about safety?  Safety is a big concern with all fillers, but especially with a filler used anywhere near the eyes.  I prefer a cannula when injecting deeply on the face, both for accurate placement and safety.  With gentle, precise placement, most patients note minimal to no discomfort during the procedure.  Next to safety, the aesthetics of the injection are the most important factor.  I spend as much time analyzing your facial contours as I do injecting the Voluma®.  As I recommend with all cosmetic procedures, check out your injector’s certification.  Also evaluate their artistic and aesthetic eye, by reviewing their previous results.

Fillers and Injectables

Nip in the Bud vs. Nip & Tuck

When is the optimal time to have something done?

Smaller procedures done earlier might help you avoid the need for major procedures down the road.  Botox® not only smooths a frown line, but can also provide a subtle lift to the brows.  Fillers not only soften lines now, but can help keep wrinkle lines from getting deeper over time.  Kybella® done now, can remove the submental fat of a nascent double chin, before it has the chance to get larger and stretch out your neck.  Voluma® can restore the youthful apples of your cheeks, and help hold the soft tissues of your face up where they belong.  Fat grafts under the eyes can keep eyelid skin more youthful, avoiding surgery to remove skin and fat.  Likewise, our intensive skin care protocols can help correct sun damage and keep your skin supple longer.  And if, despite all this, you eventually develop some slight looseness along the jawline, then a mini-lift done under local anesthesia in the office can buy you even more time.  “Less is more,” as they say.

Safety First with Wrinkle Fillers

The use of wrinkle fillers has increased significantly over the past few years, with a number of new fillers being approved by the FDA. There is often a great deal of confusion among patients who are looking for a non-surgical treatment of facial aging. “Do I need Botox®? Dysport®? Radiesse®? Juvederm®? Sculptra®? Restylane®?” It can be hard as a consumer to keep them straight much less understand the limitations and risks. What’s more, the flood of advertising from the companies that manufacture the products and the individuals who are offering the injections tends to increase the confusion. In this world of competitive medical marketing it is a breath of fresh air to see a coalition of physicians dedicated to patient safety providing reliable, non-biased information about these products and procedures. That’s what PCIS is, The physicians Coalition for Injectable Safety. Click here to go to their website.

The project was a joint effort of national and international societies of Plastic Surgeons, Dermatologists, Otolaryngologists and Ophthalmologists. They stress the importance of choosing a qualified, experienced physician and what questions to ask them during your consultation. Also, it is important that your physician use the real product that has been approved by the FDA. (Not long ago there was a news story about a physician and several of his staff winding up in the ICU after injecting themselves with a cheap, no-name botulinum toxin.)

The site goes on to provide a nice review of what the injectables do. There are wrinkle reducers (Botox® and Dysport®) which act by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles, particularly the frown line between the eyes, forehead lines, and crows’ feet lines. And the wrinkle fillers, hyaluronic acid (Restylane®, Juvederm®, Prevelle®) calcium hydroxyapetite (Radiesse®) and poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra®), which are used to fill in hollows, lines or grooves in the face that come with aging.

Fillers have been a nice adjunct treatment for facial rejuvenation, sometimes used in conjunction with facelift surgery and other times instead of when it is too early for the face or neck lift. But just because something is non-surgical doesn’t mean it’s simple or without risks. As with all of the procedures we do to improve a person’s appearance, the first concern should always be safety.
